DASH takes Gay Games history on the road across Europe and California
Following its successful debut at Gay Games XII: València 2026, the Federation of Gay Games’ Digital Arts and Sports History kiosk, known as DASH, is set to travel to key locations and events across Europe and California.
Supported by a grant from the State of California, administered by the California State Library, DASH brings more than four decades of Gay Games history to new audiences through photographs, videos, articles and other archival materials, beginning with the first Gay Games in 1982.
“From the first games to today, the Gay Games brings together people from all corners of the world to celebrate diversity and inclusion through sports and arts,” said FGG Co-President Sophia Goodner-Rodriguez. “DASH is an excellent educational and marketing tool that makes our living history much more accessible.”
The project will operate through two mobile kiosks, with one travelling throughout Europe and the other across California. Both will visit LGBTQ+ museums, archives and other relevant events, creating new opportunities to explore and engage with the history of the Gay Games.
Founded in 1982 by the late U.S. Olympian Dr. Thomas F. Waddell, the Gay Games were established to address critical social issues and promote a more inclusive environment through sport. Guided by the motto “Participation. Inclusion. Personal Best.”™, the movement has brought together participants from around the world for more than four decades.
The DASH tour schedule will be announced soon. Updates on upcoming locations and events will be shared through the Gay Games social media channels.
