At its recent Annual General Assembly (AGA), the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) elected Laurie Butterly to its Board of Directors as Director of Gay Games Quality. Based in Perth, Australia, Laurie brings a strong background in law, executive leadership and public service, along with extensive experience in LGBTQ+ community engagement.
Laurie recently completed three years as CEO of Pride WA, where she strengthened partnerships, expanded programs and led the delivery of major Pride events. She also served as Co-Chair of the successful Perth Gay Games 2030 bid team, helping secure the world’s largest LGBTQIA+ sporting event for the city. These experiences have given her valuable insight into event delivery, governance, stakeholder engagement and the importance of creating inclusive experiences for all participants.
In her new role, Laurie will work with host cities to strengthen quality assurance, integrate risk management into Games planning and uphold high standards for participant wellbeing and inclusion. Her appointment comes at an important stage as preparations for Perth 2030 continue. We warmly welcome Laurie to the FGG Board and look forward to her contribution to delivering memorable, inclusive and high-quality Gay Games in 2030.
